From the moment of birth, a baby’s biological drive is to stand up—to get vertical. Indeed, the vertical drive is so strong that it involves nearly every muscle in the body. Within the first year or so, as a child’s muscles develop strength and stamina, the brain is figuring out how to harmonise the reflexes and muscle movements into coordinated action. Meanwhile, the vestibular system is familiarising the brain with the sensations of movement to develop orientation, stability, and balance. Only when all three come together can the journey to vertically begin.
At The Little Gym, their structured, age-appropriate programmes are designed to engage children in activities that build muscle strength, coordination, and balance—all critical components of good posture! As children navigate obstacle courses, practice basic gymnastic moves, and participate in playful exercises, they develop an awareness of body alignment and control. This not only helps in correcting and preventing poor posture in the future, but also encourages lifelong habits of physical health and confidence. The nurturing, fun, and supportive environment of The Little Gym ensures that children are motivated and enjoy their development!
